Future Store - RFID

       What is RFID? RFID or Radio Frequency Identification is a technology that use electromagnetic fields to transfer data and automatically identifies and tracks the tags attached to objects, animals, or humans. RFID shaped like a tag. It used as a replacement for barcode, unlike barcode RFID does not necessary need to be within line of sight of the reader and may be embedded in tracked object. It also can read tag from hundred of meters.

RFID was made to make human life easier. For the example is “Future Store”. Future Store has many advantages such as :

- You can connect your refrigerator with your e-shopping list, you do not have to checked manually your supplies on refrigerator

- When you go shopping you can bring your smart card, your e-shopping list and your identity will automatically shown on the smart trolley and it connects to smart information terminal to help you find your items and everywhere display will show you where your items are.

- If you want to buy make up or clothes you will be helped by smart mirror and smart dressing, just stand in front of the mirror without trying your make up or clothes manually.

- When checkout your purchased, you don’t have to check it one by one but it will be checked automatically by future checkout. It can save your time and you don’t have to queue for payment.

- As a retailer you can check your store for real time, because smart shelves will give information about stock in the store, you will get information if the items out of stock. It save your time and your cost, because you do not have to hire many employees in your store.

RFID has many advantages, but it has disadvantages too. Such as :

- RFID is too expensive for developing country.

- It can decreased job lands because everything will be easier and not to have many people to work

- RFID can be disturbed by frequency from another electromagnetic waves.

       Beside the advantages and disadvantages from RFID we have to be ready for the  future technology, because the technology will always expand to make human life easier.
